Real in Rio
Dozens of parents, friends and relations packed into the assembly hall on Tuesday 28th June to see this year’s P7 perform their play on the theme of ‘Real in Rio’. Following a short interval Rev. McCormick and Mrs Stinson took to the stage to give their annual reports and the annual cups and awards were then presented by Aaron Henry, former pupil. Everyone agreed that 2015/16 had been another very busy but successful year. Roll on September and our anniversary year!
P7 had their own mini parents’ night with St Columba’s P7 pupils on 19th May to mark the end of this phase of the Shared Education project. They also displayed the literacy and art work from their Pushkin project on the theme ‘Rekindling the fire within’. This included 3D dragons which they created under the guidance of local artist Conor Larkin. Everyone then walked to St Patrick’s Parish Church where a joint school choir entertained the congregation in a special service to raise money for the Cancer Centre at the city hospital.
Parents and friends have also been busy this term with a great turn out for the tidy up night on Monday 23rd May. Even the good weather turned up allowing us to cut bushes, pull weeds, replace stones, paint benches and the playhouse and have everything ship shape for the Sports night on Thursday 26th. With the help of the Young Farmers we also redesigned the front flower beds into alpine beds full of rocks, pots and plants.
Thursday was a little cooler and just before we were due to start the heavens opened. That did not deter us, however, and we ran the traditional egg and spoon and bean bag races through the rain. We then had an Olympic relay and afterwards the members of the PTA treated us to a barbecue alongside the ice-cream and coffee stalls.
This term there has been so much going on with visitors, classes going on trips and theme days in school so here are a few pictures to give you a flavour
Many thanks to all those who have supported us in any way over the last year. Without your continued goodwill and generosity we would not be able to provide such a wide range of additional activities which enhance and extend the more traditional areas of the curriculum.

We hope you remember your time in Kilrea Primary fondly and we look forward to seeing you and hearing about your many successes in the future.
