Victorian Adventures
This month P5 and 6 have been finding out how they might have lived had they been born in the Victorian era. 150 years ago instead of going to school they could have been working in the fields or in the mills. They have also been learning about Christmas customs around the world and writing their letters to Santa.

The P7s have been researching a Victorian Christmas and the German customs made popular by Prince Albert, such as the Christmas tree. They’ve made hand-made novelties to decorate their tree in the traditional way and compared them to modern ones.

Charity Cheque
On Wednesday 26th November we were delighted to present a cheque for £1050, the proceeds of our Singathon, to the Arthrogryposis Group. It was accepted on their behalf by Mrs Elma McCaughern, who explained how the money would help provide support and advice to people with this condition and their families. Many thanks to all those who displayed their talents or helped with the fundraising; your continued support is greatly appreciated.
That’s the way to do it
Children from Kilrea Community Playgroup joined P1 and 2 on Friday 14th November for a morning of fun and games. The highlight of the visit was the Punch and Judy show which had everyone shouting and laughing.
Sporting Heroes
Kilrea boys’ football team covered themselves with glory when they beat Harpur’s Hill on penalties to win the Small Schools Competition. They arrived home to a heroes welcome with their medals and trophy.
The girls also had the chance to display their sporting prowess recently, finishing third in the netball tournament in Garvagh last week.Well done to both the teams.

The whole school travelled to the Braid Arts Centre to see Cinderella on Friday 12th December. By the end of the show the ugly sisters had got their come-uppance, Cinderella had found her Prince Charming and we were hoarse with all the singing and shouting. What a great day out.

Congratulations
Seven children had their artistic skills rewarded in this year’s Road Safety Christmas competition. Conor Agnew, Olivia Gordon, Rebekah Kelso-Mason, Cherith Paul, Christopher Gordon, Uel Nicholl and Christopher Boyd were invited along to Coleraine Leisure Centre to be presented with their prizes by Santa Claus.
