Viva Comenius: Mrs Morrison and Miss Steele started the month in style with a visit to the Instituto Casati, a school in Milan, to meet teachers from Italy, Spain, Slovakia, Romania and Germany. In 2008 we hope to develop these Euro links even further so watch this space.
Carol Service: On the Wednesday 12th we were delighted to welcome family and friends to 2nd Kilrea Presbyterian Church for our annual carol service. £350 was raised which will be presented to Save the Children and the Coleraine Gateway Club in January. £65 was also raised for the Cedar Appeal from the sale of the Christmas stickers in school.
He’s Behind You! On Friday 14th the whole school set off for the newly refurbished Ballymena Town Hall to enjoy the pantomime Aladdin. P6 & 7 were also lucky enough to be invited to see St Paul’s College production of Sleeping Beauty.
A Musical Odyssey: On Tuesday 18th P5, 6 & 7 joined thousands of school children from across Northern Ireland to star in the Young Voices Concert in the Odyssey Arena, Belfast. They spent the afternoon rehearsing and watching the backstage preparations before parents and friends arrived to see them perform with stars such as Peter Corry and Lee Ryan (from the boy band Blue). Everyone agreed it had been a fantastic experience.
Winners: Congratulations to Christine Wilson, Naomi Kelso-Mason, Rebekah Kelso-Mason, Calvyn Smyth and Joel Williamson who all won prizes in the Coleraine and District Road Safety art and design competition. Thanks also to all those who donated the 544 copies of Yellow Pages which should put us among the prize winners again!
Visitors: The month ended with two important visitors. Emma Laughlin came to tell us about her recent trip to India. She showed us photographs of the Asha Project in Delhi where she had worked and she even wore her sari. Then, on the last day of term, ‘You know who’ came to see us!
